Course Overview

This training course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the regulatory requirements, application processes, reporting requirements and compliance obligations associated with obtaining and maintaining a waste collection permit under Irish law. This course fulfils that requirement and is recognised by the National Waste Collection Permit Office (NWCPO).

Certification

This Waste Collection Permitting Course is accredited by the Chartered Institution of Waste Management (CIWM). All participants who complete the course will receive a CIWM-accredited certificate, accepted by the National Waste Collection Permit Office (NWCPO).

Under Section 34D(1)(b) of the Waste Management Act 1996 (as amended), individuals and companies applying for a waste collection permit must complete an approved training course.

  • Waste Collection Permitting System
  • Specific Conditions of a Waste Collection Permit
  • Waste Classification & Record Keeping
  • Annual Returns & Amending Your Permit

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the requirements to comply with waste management legislation and how to access further information
  • Describe the waste hierarchy and how it applies in practice
  • Understand the key issues in relation to the definition of waste and the categorisation of waste
  • Understand the importance of accurate record keeping and reporting to regulatory bodies
  • Recognise when a waste permit may be required and the process for application
  • Outline the key requirements of the hazardous waste regulations including the completion of waste transfer documentation
  • List key compliance considerations when organising waste contracts

Cost
