Launch of unique creative painting project Through Our Eyes

Creative Painting Project “Through Our Eyes” Launched at Portlaoise Library

On Thursday 18 December a unique creative painting project titled “Through Our Eyes” was officially launched at Portlaoise Library, bringing together education, healthcare, and industry in a meaningful collaboration.

The project was developed through a partnership between LOETB Community EducationB Braun, and the dialysis clinic team, and was delivered by tutor Pauline.
“Through Our Eyes” provided people attending dialysis with the opportunity to engage in painting as a way to reflect on and express their lived experiences within a supportive clinical environment.

The launch event was attended by project partners, healthcare staff, educators, and invited guests. The event included reflections on the journey of the project, the clinical perspective, and the importance of creative engagement for wellbeing during long-term treatment.

Speaking at the launch, contributors highlighted how the project placed participant voice and experience at its centre, demonstrating the positive impact of creative learning within healthcare settings. The paintings created as part of the project offer powerful and personal insights, told visually through colour, form, and expression.

Following its launch at Portlaoise Library, the “Through Our Eyes” exhibition will now be displayed at B Braun, allowing a wider audience to engage with the artwork and the stories behind it.

This project showcases the strength of collaboration between community education, clinical services, and industry, and highlights the role of creativity in supporting connection, expression, and wellbeing.
