Mountmellick Men’s Shed Showcase Artwork at Mountmellick Arts Centre

An exhibition of artwork created by members of Mountmellick Men’s Shed has recently opened at Mountmellick Arts Centre , celebrating creativity, learning and community connection.

The exhibition features paintings produced as part of a Community Education art course, delivered through LOETB.
For many of the men involved, this was their first experience of painting. The course provided a relaxed and supportive environment where participants were encouraged to try something new, build confidence and enjoy the creative process.

The artwork is displayed on hand-crafted easels made by the men themselves during woodworking sessions with tutor Jack Byrne, highlighting the wide range of skills and interests within the Shed.

Speaking at the opening, the Community Education Facilitator Gillian Cunningham said the exhibition reflects what the Men’s Shed is all about connection, confidence-building and learning together in a welcoming space.

The art course was delivered by tutor Billy Dollard, whose supportive approach helped participants engage fully with painting and express their creativity.

Thanks were also extended to Mountmellick Arts Centre for hosting the exhibition.

The exhibition offers the public an opportunity to view the men’s work, meet the artists, and learn more about the positive impact of Men’s Sheds and Community Education in the local area.

Following its run at Mountmellick Arts Centre, the exhibition will be on display at Mountmellick Library from 5 January 2026.
